Summary
I worked in the supply chain of one the leading Canadian telecommunications companies as an analytics manager. The team required custom reporting for their daily operations, however due to high cost of hiring external software developers, the executives decided to hire their own data analysts to create those reports.
My role as an analytics manager was to understand business requirements, pull data, analyze and create sustainable reporting processes. Traditionally, the reports were mostly text and numbers only and several emails were being sent by email daily.
Working closely with operations, I was able to address the challenges the team was having with the traditional reporting system. Also having UX knowledge, I went above my given role and designed an in-house reporting application that solved many of those challenges.
This application provides visualizations with an easy to interpret user interface for analytical context. It is custom designed for supply chain team concerns and highlights the subjects that needs high attention on the main page.
This also enabled decommissioning traditional reporting emailing system that had been another pain point of the team as they can now preview and download the reports on demand.
Problem Statement
Supply chain team requires a reporting system
Working with BI and external developers are costly, so we worked on an in-house alternative
Too many reports are received via e-mail that blocks the storage, not user friendly, reports are lost or deleted
Goals
Designing an application for Supply chain reporting system,
Preview up to date dashboards for supply chain metrics
Identify the subjects that need high attention
Enable team to download or preview the reports on demand
